WindTrax is a desktop modeling tool for estimating gas emission rates from real-world sources using micrometeorological dispersion techniques. It is widely used in environmental and agricultural air-quality studies to quantify emissions such as ammonia, methane, and odors from sources like lagoons, feedlots, compost operations, landfills, and industrial sites. The software applies an inverse dispersion approach—often using a backward Lagrangian stochastic (bLs) model—to translate downwind concentration measurements and meteorological data into source emission estimates.
